The Church of God is called Zion. Is there a reason?

The name of the church that Christ established on this earth 2,000 years ago is the Church of God.

(1 Corinthians 1:2) To the church of God in Corinth, to those sanctified in Christ Jesus and called to be holy, together with all those everywhere who call on the name of our Lord Jesus Christ--their Lord and ours: 

(1 Corinthians 11:22) Don't you have homes to eat and drink in? Or do you despise the church of God and humiliate those who have nothing? What shall I say to you? Shall I praise you for this? Certainly not! 

The Church of God is also called Zion.

(Hebrews 12:22) But you have come to Mount Zion, to the heavenly Jerusalem, the city of the living God. You have come to thousands upon thousands of angels in joyful assembly, 

(Revelation 14:1) Then I looked, and there before me was the Lamb, standing on Mount Zion, and with him 144,000 who had his name and his Father's name written on their foreheads. 

When we find out what kind of place Zion is, we can understand why we call the Church of God Zion.

Zion was the name of a small mountain in Jerusalem. After the ark of the covenant of God was placed there, the term "Zion" was used to represent not only Jerusalem but also Israel ( 1 Kj 6:1 )

To understand the reason that the Church of God is called Zion, we need to understand the relationship between King David and Jesus first.
