New Long Island Home, New Opportunities to Volunteer

On September 22, 2013 the World Mission Society Church of God opened the doors of its 36th branch church on the East Coast, located in Floral Park, Long Island. The Church welcomed neighbors to learn about its local and global community service as well as its belief in God the Father and God the Mother.

To prepare for the open house, Church members dedicated themselves to renovating the building and transforming it into a modern educational facility that hosts special events, Bible seminars and worship services. Visitors toured the newly finished sanctuary and Bible study rooms on the main floor.

In the lower level fellowship area, visitors were able to watch the Church of God introduction video that displayed the history of the Church of God, its international growth and the good deeds performed around the world on behalf of God the Mother. Members and guests conversed over buffet-style hors d’oeuvres and desserts regarding the Church of God panels that lined the walls: one side had information about the Sabbath and the other side had information about the Passover.

The atmosphere was warm, welcoming and fun. Neighbors visited from across the street and down the block. Most commented that they had never been inside the building before the Open House, but were pleasantly surprised to see how beautiful the renovation was.

Through the event, the Church also took the opportunity to present itself to its new neighborhood as an on-call volunteer body in times of need and for other various services.
